[ltr]The Pentagon has denied reports that it supports militants of the terrorist group "Da'ash", saying it is working to kill or arrest them.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The allegations that the United States supports the terrorist Islamic state are false and absurd, we do not train sympathetic elements, we are working with partners to eliminate or arrest them," the Pentagon spokesman said.[/ltr]
[ltr]A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has announced that gunmen fired rockets at the international airport in Latakia, and the Syrian base of Hameimim in Russia.[/ltr]
[ltr]The first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation's Defense and Security Committee, Franz Klintsevich, also commented on the insurgents' attempt to target the Russian base as impossible without the support of the United States.[/ltr]
[ltr]Valery Girasimov, the chief of the Russian General Staff, confirmed that Russian surveillance and reconnaissance equipment had concluded that Washington was using the Syrian airfield to train terrorists, most of them "fugitives" fleeing from al-Rakqa.[/ltr]
