Union of Forces: No elections before the return of all displaced peopleMP Hassan Khudair Shuwaird said on Friday that the elections scheduled for next May will not take place before returning the displaced to their areas of residence.
Schuerd said that "the parliamentary session yesterday saw the hosting of the members of the Electoral Commission to find out the mechanisms of work and the problems that face them." According to the newspaper "Life".
He added that "the Commission reviewed the mechanisms of work and the difficulties that impede its tasks, and indicated that it will not be able to hold elections on schedule if the funds are not available, as well as the return of all displaced to their areas, and update their electoral data."
"The demand for the return of the displaced is essential for us, otherwise the elections will not be as planned," Schuerd said.
He added that "it is not without difficulty, and may be extended dates for the reasons referred to," while calling on the government to "speed up its procedures to facilitate the work of UNHCR."
