The US trade deficit rose more-than-expected in November as commodity imports registered a record high amid strong domestic demand.
The trade deficit rose 3.2 percent to $ 50.5 billion, the Commerce Department quoted the Commerce Department as saying. That is the highest level since January 2012 and comes after a deficit of $ 48.9 billion in October.
Commodity imports jumped to a record $ 204.0 billion in November, while capital goods imports reached their highest level and consumer goods imports rose to their highest level since March 2015.
The rise in imports of industrial supplies and materials to the highest level since January 2015 has contributed to an increase in the country's import bill.
Imports from China did not change in November, while exports to the world's second-largest economy fell 1.9 percent, and the US trade deficit with China rose 0.6 percent to $ 35.4 billion. Ending / 25
