French Foreign Minister Jean-Louis Le Drean said the upcoming Syrian talks in the Austrian capital Vienna were "the last hope" to resolve the Syrian crisis.

"There is no conception of a political solution in Syria that poses itself as opposed to the UN-led peace talks in Vienna," he told French lawmakers. "The parties concerned are present and we hope to draw up an agenda for peace."

Both the Syrian government and the opposition have announced their intention to participate in the ninth round of talks on Syria to be held in Vienna on the 25th and 26th of this month.

The talks are expected to focus on completing the debate on the constitution and election addresses, as previously confirmed by the international envoy to Syria, Stefan de Mistura.

Vienna was chosen instead of Geneva (as usual) as a United Nations headquarters and the Conference was not available in Geneva for organizational and logistical considerations.
