    [rtl]Direct: US Treasury Secretary said he was confident of the strength of the dollar in the long term, hours after his remarks , which plunged the green currency to the lowest level in 3 years.[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]Steffen Munchin said yesterday that the weak dollar is good for the US economy , and the currency will drop after these statements to levels not seen since 2014.[/rtl]

    [rtl]Munchin said at a Davos meeting on Thursday that he was not very concerned about the weakness of the dollar in the short term, but he was confident of the strong fundamentals of the dollar in the long term.[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]The US currency saw sharp losses against major currencies yesterday, and continued its decline today.[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]By 1032 GMT, the dollar index, which tracks performance against 6 major currencies, fell to $ 89.09, its lowest level since December 2014.[/rtl]
