China urges America to abandon war mentality

China on Sunday urged the United States to abandon the "Cold War mentality" and not misunderstand its military buildup, indicating that peace and development are irreversible global trends.
"Peace and development are irreversible global trends," a ministry statement said on its website.The United States, which has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, should take the initiative to follow this approach rather than object to it. "
"We hope that the United States will abandon the Cold War mentality and earnestly carry out its own disarmament responsibility, understand China's strategic intentions properly and objectively consider China's national defense and military buildup," the statement said.
She urged the United States to cooperate with China and become a stabilizing force in Sino-US relations and in the region.
