A member of the National Alliance MP Bahaa Jamal al-Din said on Sunday that the survival of the Americans in Iraq will affect the chances of Prime Minister Haider Abadi in obtaining a second term, adding that the parliament and the Iraqi people rejected this presence and asked Abadi to set a timetable for their removal.
"The House of Representatives and the Iraqi people rejected the American presence and demanded that Prime Minister Haider Abadi set a timetable for their removal," Gamaluddin said in a statement.
He added that "the survival of foreign forces in various names affects the chances of Abadi in the upcoming elections," warning at the same time of "the exploitation of some deputies to reject the US presence as election propaganda for them."
The parliamentary legal committee confirmed on Sunday that the presence of foreigners in Iraq has become illegal after the decision of the House of Representatives to set a timetable for their removal, while considered that the strategic framework agreement signed between Washington and Baghdad has become "paralyzed."
