[ltr]Oil prices fell towards $ 64 a barrel on Monday, driven by expectations of a major surge in US oil production over the next five years.[/ltr]
[ltr]By 1237 GMT, the benchmark Brent crude was down eight cents after giving up morning gains by 0.6 percent to $ 64.29 a barrel, and well below the $ 71 peak in January.[/ltr]
[ltr]US crude settled at $ 61.24 a barrel, after rising 0.7 percent earlier.[/ltr]
[ltr]The International Energy Agency (IEA) said today that US shale oil production will grow over the next five years to capture a share of OPEC producers in the market and the country, which was once the world's largest oil importer, is close to achieving self-sufficiency.[/ltr]
