Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on Saturday, to the province of Wasit province, the opening of the third generating unit of the power station Zubaydiah accompanied by his deputy, Hussein al-Shahristani, Electricity Minister Karim Aftan.
And opened Wasit province, on the sixth of July, second obstetric unit thermal Zubaydiah plant capacity of 330 MW, while confirming that the work currently underway on the introduction and two units Tolidetyn the service during the current year.
It is noteworthy that the former Minister of Electricity Karim Wahid place, in (3 October 2009), the foundation stone for the power station Zubaydiah project which is implemented by the Chinese company Shanghai a total cost of about two billion dollars.
Previously, the company that signed a contract for the establishment of the station electricity Zubaydiah during the year 1998, and the cost of the project is $ 750 million, and the company has implemented business design for the station during the year 2001, and some civil works, but they left work due to military operations that has gripped Iraq in 2003, where expressed fear of the situation which resulted in the country of that time, but the contract has been activated to create the station at the request made by the former Minister of Electricity Karim Wahid, after the visit of the Chinese ambassador in Baghdad, to the Ministry of Electricity mid-March 2007.
