End of service benefits for thousands of employees disappeared in retirement
Retired pensioners complained about the failure to pay the end of service pension, accusing the Pension Authority to deal with duplication in this file through the granting of some retired reward, while warned the Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament to deal twice with retirees in terms of payment of end of service equivalents.
According to the retirement law passed in 2006, specifically in Article 8, a retired employee is entitled to a retirement pension if his services are less than 15 years of pension service. The bonus is calculated by multiplying the number of months of full service by 14% Average salary of the employee during his service.
"After reviewing the retirement department to receive the pension, I was surprised not to be covered for unknown reasons, despite the law giving me the reward," said AS, who was retired several months ago.
He added that "the retirement agency deals with duplication, some friends who have retired to pay them a pension because they have strong relations with the administration," and tried to "Journal News" contact the director general of the retirement agency Ahmed Saadi, and also tried to contact the Ministry of Finance, but all attempts came Failed.
On the other hand, informed sources told the Journal News that "the General Retirement Authority has decided to stop granting a service equivalent to those who complete their service for 30 years at the end of 2016, which includes 12 salaries, but we were surprised that the Commission gives the reward to those who have a medium of influence" .
The sources said that "the public pension is the body responsible for disbursing this grant, which is mainly deducted from the salaries of employees during his tenure in the post, demanding the activation of the law of disbursement of the grant to all retirees and non-disbursement to the owners of Wastat."
And called on the regulatory bodies to follow up this file and the importance of accountability of those responsible, especially as the retired provided a service to the homeland and sacrificed everything for it.
This comes at a time when warned the Finance Committee in the parliament to deal with duplication with retirees.
A member of the Finance Committee Hossam Al-Aqabi told the Journal News on Wednesday that "the Finance Committee will follow up the file of granting a service reward for retirees and will refer the defaultees to the investigation."
Al-Aqabi called on the Pension Authority to distribute this grant fairly and according to merit, "stressing that his committee will follow up this file, especially since the general budget for the current year was approved in parliament."
