09/4/2018 12:00 am [rtl] BAGHDAD / AL-SABARA (Reuters) - A Samarra pharmaceutical factory is seeking to sign several contracts with some ministries to market its medical products at a time when the Ministry of Health and Environment is coordinating with the Iranian side to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in various health and medical fields. The head of the relations and information department of Samarra pharmaceutical laboratory, which belongs to the Ministry of Health and Environment, Laith Saleh Hussein, said in a statement to the "morning" that the lab seeks to optimize its performance in order to return to the forefront in the field of national production of medicines and medical preparations, The first step is to support the marketing side of the laboratory products. He explained that the officials in the lab held several meetings with the Ministry of Health and Environment to take a decision obliging the ministry to market the plant's products and give them priority, especially that the provision of medicines at present depends on imports from abroad at the base level, through the conclusion of contracts with different companies. Hussein said that the lab seeks to conclude contracts with the Ministry of Health in order to provide all types of medicines and to cover the need of the market and demand with an increase in the proportion of medicines within the contracts concluded, explaining that officials in the lab and in coordination with the General Company for medicine and medical supplies held meetings with other ministries to conclude contracts Drugs and preparations that fall within their medical and industrial needs. He stressed that the plant has the capacity to produce all medicines and local competencies with long experience and has the possibility to increase the production line of the laboratory, noting that the plant seeks to obtain the international quality certificate (ISO). On a related note, the Ministry of Health and Environment is coordinating with the Iranian side to conclude a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in various health and medical fields. The ministry discussed the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, noting that the memorandum dealt with the principles of joint cooperation in the field of registration and supply of medicines, exchange of expertise, primary health care programs, strengthening the capacities of local hospitals, evacuation and recruitment.
