Daytrader: I would suggest a re-read of JJ's post 264 in yesterday's thread. It is a translation from part of Samson's post 137 titled, Instructions and criteria for handling and replacing banknotes and counting mechanisms
IMO this could be a massive clue we've been given by the CBI. We've been shown the Iraqi markets use a significant amount of USD for everyday purchases. The CBI appears to be expecting a considerable influx of USD and EUR coming back into the banking system. So much, that they are establishing a policy on the counting, bundling and transportation of foreign currency; including all serial numbers.
The Iraqi banking system has been primarily focused on foreign currency movement from the CBI to the banks to the street. Now they appear to expect the flow to be from the street to the banks to the CBI. And we see the CBI even focusing on just who the banks are using to transport foreign currencies.
Guessing banks will consolidate foreign currencies from branch offices to their main bank before sending it to the CBI; hence the focus on tracking every note every step of the way; even to include every serial numbers.
Now why would the CBI be giving the Iraqi banking system this kind of policy/instruction at this point in time????? Just a thought.
