The General Authority of Customs announced the immediate implementation of the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 186 of 2018, which was issued to deal with the problem of containers congested in the northern port of Umm Qasr. The work will begin on Friday 25/5/2018 for a period of 30 days according to a provisional mechanism the decision".
According to a statement issued by the Authority, "the decision provides for the imposition of financial insurance of [500] thousand dinars on importers and until the submission of certificates of origin and certified commercial invoices and certificates of conformity of imported goods."
"The decision also stressed the commitment of all parties present at the port of Umm Qasr to the duties specified for them and not to interfere with the responsibilities entrusted to the customs administration and provide support and support to enable customs centers to perform their work.
It is worth mentioning that the importers and the customs clearance companies played their goods from the northern port of Umm Qasr from the beginning of this month in parallel with the establishment of border crossings authority to take over the management of the port.
