Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi discussed during a meeting with Vice President Iyad Allawi, the protection of the elections from fraud, and the recent "National Meeting" initiative launched by Abadi to gather political blocs.
The media office of Abadi said in a statement that the latter received Allawi and discussed during the meeting the political situation and Ebadi initiative to meet high-level among the leaders of the political blocs and preparations for it through the Preparatory Committee to lay the foundations for any agreement for the program of the next state.
He added that the two sides also discussed: "Protecting the democratic and political process and ensuring the proper functioning of them, and discuss ways to protect the electoral process from fraud and manipulation and preserve the achievements achieved and strengthened by building and reconstruction and a better future for Iraqis."
The Prime Minister Haider Abadi has confirmed, earlier on Wednesday, that the invitation to the political blocs on the convening of a national meeting after the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, comes to agree on a program of state administration in the next stage.
"Our call for the political blocs to hold a meeting comes to agree on the program of state administration and not just the government in the coming period," Abadi said during his weekly conference held at the government palace in the Green Zone in downtown Baghdad.
Abadi added that "the invitation we sent to the political blocs a project to lay the foundations of a political agreement to build the state program."
He called on the Prime Minister, the political blocs to "respect the constitutional contexts on the resolution of the election file."
