(Reuters) - Iraq was stopped days before visas were issued to Iranians before being released but at a very low pace, raising questions about the surprise action and its connection to US pressure on Baghdad or stopping Tehran from supplying Baghdad with electricity.
The newspaper "Al-Jarida" in its issue issued on Monday an Iraqi source in Tehran, saying that the suspension of visas due to the problem of communication devices with the Iraqi Embassy with Baghdad, explaining that the embassy tends to use non-forgery stickers instead of sealing.
On the other hand, an Iranian diplomatic source in Karbala that "the Iraqi action a threat message," adding that the Iraqi authorities told his country that stopping the supply of electricity and water to Baghdad led to public anger is a threat to the security of the Iranians in Iraq and accordingly preferred to reduce the number of visas to them until the crisis subsides .
In the context, Iraqi sources said that the Iraqi authorities stopped nine days ago Iranians holding false passports at Baghdad airport, after this incident took additional checks on Iranian passports, and decided to put some restrictions pending a new formula, including the use of a poster instead of sealing, Iranian visitors, while at the same time adhering to Baghdad's international standards and standards.
Washington has accused Baghdad more than once of facilitating the passage of Iranian characters with sanctions through the airports of Baghdad and Najaf, demanding more scrutiny on the movement of Iranians.
