Saudi-American "unprecedented" clash in the Security Council

An unprecedented clash between Saudi Arabia's envoy to the UN Security Council, Abdullah al-Maalami, and his American counterpart, Nikki Hailey, took place Wednesday evening.
"I do not have any relations with Ambassador Hayley because of her behavior," the Saudi delegate told a news conference Wednesday. "She does not miss an opportunity but to show her negative attitude towards the Palestinian people under the pretext of defending the Israelis," he said. According to the newspaper "Middle East."
He accused the American delegate of being "more Israeli than the Israelis themselves," and said that what Hayley seeks to promote, namely that the United States is the only contributor to UNRWA, is incorrect.
He stressed that his country has provided 6 billion dollars to Palestine during the past two decades, in the form of humanitarian aid and development assistance and relief means, adding that the Kingdom also provided a billion dollars in the same period to "UNRWA".
"It is time for the countries of the region to help the Palestinian people in an effective way instead of giving speeches from thousands of kilometers away," said US envoy Nicky Haley during a Security Council session.
"Where are the Arab countries when reconciliation among Palestinian factions should be encouraged, which is essential for peace? Where are the Arab countries when Hamas terror should be condemned? Where are the Arab states when it becomes necessary to support settlements for peace? " In addition to its financial aid to UNRWA, Washington provided direct assistance to Palestinians of $ 300 million last year.
