The leader of the Dawa Party, Khalid al-Asadi, on Friday denied the presence of a "veto" from the supreme authority of the Shiites in Najaf, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, to re-nominate Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for a second term.
Al-Asadi told Ashqaf News that "the letters and positions of the reference are usually either public or in particular, and so far we have not received any veto either openly or in particular."
The social networking sites have been circulating leaks that the religious authority in Najaf informed the Shiite political forces in a letter to reject the candidacy of Haider Abadi, Tarek Najm, Faleh Fayyad and Hadi al-Amiri for the post of prime minister.
