Oil Minister cancels decision to transfer ownership of state oil companies

The oil ministry said on Saturday that Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi canceled the decision to transfer the ownership of nine state oil companies from his ministry to the newly established national oil company .
The ministry said in a statement that the move was aimed at "leaving the option for the next government" led by Adel Abdul-Mahdi to take its decisions on the oil sector "in line with its program."
A senior Iraqi oil official said the decision to transfer ownership of the companies upset Mahdi "and took quickly without his consent ."
