The Sunni-Sunni conflict on the Defense Ministry portfolio has been up to this moment and the political forces have not reached any solution or agreement, the parliamentary bloc of parliamentarians said on Saturday.

"The Sunni-Sunni conflict continues on the portfolio of the Ministry of Defense. The purpose of the conflict is not to take the ministry for the sake of serving the country and the citizen, but to serve the political parties concerned, which have goals and objectives in this ministry," said head of the bloc Mohammed al-Khalidi.

Khalidi said that "the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, formed according to the system of quotas, which is not different in anything from previous governments, ministries were divided between the political parties, which ruled the country since 2003, without any progress or success of the homeland.

The Iraqi parliament voted at the end of last October on 14 ministers from the new government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, while delaying the vote on 8 ministers.

Parliament postponed the vote on the ministries of defense, interior, culture, education, justice, planning, higher education, and immigration due to disagreement over its candidates.

The positions of the Minister of Interior and Defense shared by Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq, according to the quotas in force in the distribution of positions in successive governments on the rule of the country after the fall of the former regime, where the first position of the first component, and the second component of the second.
