The Central Bureau of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning announced on Tuesday that the number of employees decreased by 2.4% of the total number of workers in the public sector in 2017.

The number of employees in these establishments reached 45,730 workers in 2017, with 36,292 males and 79.4% males. The number of female employees was 9438 workers and 20.4%, a decrease of 2.4% compared to 2016, 46876 workers, "attributed to the decline in the number of workers to" many of them to retire. "
He pointed out that "the total wages, salaries and benefits paid to employees amounted to 721 billion dinars, an increase of 1.8% compared to 2016, where it amounted to 708 billion dinars," explaining that "the reason for this increase is due to increase the number of employees in the ministries of oil and health during 2017.
The agency pointed out that "the value of purchases for 2017 amounted to 8579 billion dinars, an increase of 13.4% compared to 2016, which amounted to purchases of 7565 billion dinars."
