The UAE is the regional leader in the Corruption Perceptions Index

The UAE maintained the first place in the Middle East and North Africa region in the fight against corruption as the most honest country in the region, while it ranked 23rd in the world among 180 developed countries, based on the previous report on Corruption Index 2018 issued yesterday by Transparency International. Countries.
The UAE recorded 70 points in the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index, up 5 points from the previous year's report of 2016. The UAE received a higher index than other countries in the region.
This is closely linked to its level of human development and development, ie, efficient public administration, high levels of GDP, health and education, improved levels of government services to the people, access to infrastructure, and improved infrastructure.
Growing Risk
"The United States dropped 4 points in 2018 to get out of the list of top 20 countries for the first time since 2011, ranking 22nd with 71 points, down from 75 on a scale of 1 to 100," Transparency International's report said.
"Denmark and New Zealand achieved the best results on the Corruption Perceptions Index again in 2018, while countries such as Somalia, Syria and South Sudan remained the tail of the list and the three countries recorded 10, 13 and 13 points on the index respectively. Overall, more than two-thirds of countries are below the 50 level on the 2018 index. "
In the top five places alongside Denmark and New Zealand, Finland came in third, Singapore fourth, Sweden fifth. The Organization said only 20 countries had improved their levels since 2012.
Transparency International said its analysts found a clear link between sound democracy and anti-corruption and noted that the decline in the performance of Turkey and Hungary was linked to the challenges of rule of law and freedom of the press, Hungary fell 8 points and Turkey 9 points to 46 and 41 points, respectively.
