The Council of Muthanna province, on Tuesday, the discovery of oil reserves in the province parallel to the oil provinces, indicating that next year Muthanna begins production through the wells of Salman one.
Council member Ahmad Salal told Al-Mawloma that the Ministry of Oil has transferred large areas of Muthanna province to investment companies to explore the oil in them.
"The contract signed refers to the production of oil through Muthanna in 2025 if found within the specific patches," he said, adding that "the company began digging three wells within the area of Salman one questionable."
He explained that "the companies discovered a huge oil reservoir in Muthanna province parallel to the oil provinces," noting that "preliminary data indicate that the Muthanna will begin to produce oil through the wells of Salman one next year."
He added that "if the production of oil from Muthanna is beneficial to the province by providing jobs in oil companies for unemployed and benefit from petrodollar revenues."
