Turkish Defense Minister Khulosi Akkar announced that his country's army is fully prepared for the military operation in Manbaj and eastern Euphrates in Syria, stressing that he is waiting for the Turkish president's order to start the process.
"The Turkish forces are on standby and are waiting for the orders of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," Akar said during a tour of a military area in Turkey's eastern state of Agri.
"We will not allow the security of our country to be endangered in any way and there should be no doubt about that," he said, stressing that his country would not give up its sovereignty and independence in any way.
"We will not allow the emergence of any terrorist corridor south of our country in northern Syria ... We have never allowed and will never allow it. Turkey has no ambitions for the lands of neighboring countries, but respects its unity, especially Syria and Iraq. "
He also stressed that Turkey "targets only terrorists, not its Kurdish brethren, some of whom are trying to incite them by spreading sedition and intrigue." He concluded by saying: "The Kurds are our brothers, we live with them and share the same area and bread for thousands of years."
