Russia is holding Americans who crossed its border illegally
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday the detention of two US citizens in Novorossiysk because they crossed the country illegally.
The media and press department of the Russian ministry advised the media to direct their "specific questions" to Russian law enforcement agencies about the detention of these two individuals, according to Russia Today.
Earlier, the Primorsky district court in Novorossiysk convicted two US citizens of violating the border crossing system.
The court's website featured data on the administrative violation of the border regime by US citizens, Gaggi David Udo and Budovsky David Cole, and their violation of the administrative law of the Russian Federation (violation of the border regime).
KSL recently reported that in recent days the Church of Jesus Christ had announced the detention of two of its volunteers in a meeting house in Novorossiysk.
In response to reporters' request to comment on reports of the arrest of two US citizens, the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Piskov said: "I have no information about that."
The Church of Jesus Christ, a religious organization founded by Joseph Smith in 1830, is headquartered in Salt Lake City, United States of America and has nationals and temples in many countries of the world, including Russia.
