Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said today that the current government is more committed to US sanctions against Iran than his previous government, saying that those who oppose his government's position are not being heard today
. "Iraq is committed not to deal with the dollar to complete business dealings with Iran, and the current government is more committed to sanctions than my government, yet we do not hear those voices that objected to my position on sanctions."
Abadi stressed that in his government adopted the principle of "positive balance", adding, "succeeded in opening balanced on all countries, and saved Iraq from the conflict regional and international axes, but collected contradictions to support Iraq, and I hope that the current government to continue this approach in favor of the homeland and the state."
Abadi said that his policy "bothered a lot, some threatened his interests," pointing out that "did nothing outside the framework of national and Iraqi interests."
He also stressed the development of the relationship with Russia "not only in the fight against terrorism but also at the political and economic levels," adding: "We support the development of these relations within the common interests."
Abbadi served as Iraqi prime minister from September 2014 to succeed Nouri al-Maliki until late 2018, when he handed over his post to Adel Abdul Mahdi, nominated by the winning blocs in that year's election. The period of the Abbadi period of fierce battles against the organization "Da'ash" terrorist (prohibited in Russia), which ended the elimination of the organization in areas of control in Iraq.
