Ambassador Sadiq Al-Rikabi presented his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Belgium to King Philip of Belgium.
"Ambassador Sadiq al-Rikabi conveyed the greetings of the President of Iraq Barham Saleh to the King of Belgium," a foreign ministry statement said.
He said that the government of Iraq "seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with the government of the Kingdom of Belgium and contribute to the achievement of development and prosperity and the common interests of both countries in all fields."
The ambassador also thanked "the Kingdom of Belgium for the support and assistance of the Iraqi government and people in fighting a terrorist entity by joining the international coalition against terrorism."
It was stressed "the need to continue political consultations between the governments of the two friendly countries and exchange views on the current events on the regional and international arenas."
