[size=45]BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Turkey has a "legitimate excuse" to bomb Iraqi territory, the Security and Defense Committee of the Iraqi parliament said on Monday.
"The Iraqi government should not allow anyone who starts from Iraqi territory to carry out acts of aggression against a neighboring country. This will give a legitimate pretext for that state to respond in order to maintain its security," said committee member Abbas Sarwat.
Turkey says its bombardment of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) elements in the Kandil and Sinjar mountains comes in response to attacks from Iraqi territory launched by Kurdish forces.

However, "Sarout" said at the same time that any bombing of Iraqi territory is a violation of national sovereignty, so Baghdad must have a firm position to prevent repeated violations and violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
Turkish media reported Sunday that the Turkish Foreign Ministry had confirmed to the Iraqi embassy in Ankara that its operations against terrorism outside the border would continue in response to Iraq's condemnation of the bombing of Sulaymaniyah province.
"The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy and reported that Ankara's counterterrorism operations would continue firmly," the Turkish TRT said.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned, on Saturday, the bombing of two Turkish planes areas in the province of Sulaymaniyah, within the territory of Kurdistan, and demanded Ankara to stop the bombing.
Turkey has recently stepped up its strikes on PKK bases, especially in its stronghold in the Qandil mountains.
