    Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi's office announced on Saturday that the Supreme Council against Corruption had reviewed 8,824 cases of integrity before the judiciary in 2019, pointing out that Abdul Mahdi directed the necessity of the commitment of the Ministry of Oil to implement the recommendations on the file of oil smuggling. 
    "The Supreme Council for Combating Corruption held its seventeenth session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, and reviewed the latest developments, especially with regard to the measures taken in the field of combating corruption by the executive, judicial and supervisory authorities," the office said in a statement. And follow-up the implementation of the recommendations approved by the Council and implementation as appropriate. "
    The statement added, "The Council was briefed on a statistical provided by the Supreme Judicial Council, including the issues of integrity before the competent courts in 2018, and the number of 8824 cases throughout Iraq, including 5847 cases for all courts," noting that "the Council stressed the need to assign the judiciary and enable judges to perform Their tasks are especially related to issues of integrity with the need for speedy resolution. "
    He pointed out that "the Council discussed a number of topics on the agenda, where he directed the Prime Minister of the need for the commitment of the Ministry of Oil to implement the recommendations on the file of oil smuggling and the timetable set for this purpose with the follow-up of executive procedures to ensure the elimination of corruption systems in the oil file."
    He continued, "The Council reviewed the draft memorandum of understanding with the Iranian side on the file of combating drugs and integrated measures that are in the interest of the two countries," noting that Abdul-Mahdi "tasked the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive study to ensure aspects of drug control, and enable the cadres, and provide equipment and tools, It also made this draft a basis for the conclusion of further agreements with neighboring and regional states, as well as bilateral agreements with various countries, and the need to expeditiously finalize and sign these agreements. ”
    The statement pointed to "discuss the report of the Commission on the integrity of companies operating in the field of customs clearance at the border outlets, which did not meet the legal requirements," adding that the Council directed to "take legal procedures and hold accountable all violators and those involved in this aspect."
    He pointed out that "the Council discussed a set of steps and procedures that enhance transparency and the protection of public funds, which directed the Prime Minister to be presented to the concerned and complete their requirements in order to be adopted and announced and obliging government institutions to implement as far as it is concerned."
    He explained that "the Council welcomed the attitudes of MPs and their initiatives to provide the necessary documents and evidence to enable the supervisory and judicial bodies and support them in the performance of their work, calling on all parties and persons who have files of corruption and evidence of any specific case or file to submit and support the government and judicial bodies and enable the supervisory bodies to complete their work." .
