Osama al-Nujaifi looms to withdraw support for the Iraqi government

The head of the Iraqi decision-making coalition, Osama al-Nujaifi, during a meeting with Hines Blaskhart, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, on Thursday to withdraw support for the federal government headed by Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi.
A statement issued by the office of Nujaifi that "Balskhart presented its report to the Security Council and its points and observations, and expressed interest in the issue of the abducted and forcibly disappeared, and also discussed the government performance and the file of displaced persons and the attitude of families involved in the relationship with the Islamic State terrorist organization, as well as the subject of the announcement of the Salvation Front And development and Nujaifi vision on the political situation in Iraq and the regional situation.
The statement added that "Nujaifi provided a detailed view of the file of the abducted and forcibly absentees, pointing to discussing the subject with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, as well as providing information base on these victims."
Nujaifi called on the government to exercise its constitutional duties in revealing the facts about the fate of those who are forcibly disappeared and redress their families and hold accountable all those involved in genocide and war crimes.
He pointed to "the government report on the Iraqi effort in the field of the International Convention on Enforced Disappearance, and its shortcomings, and ignore the many cases that should be stopped, as the disclosure of the facts is a key factor in the stability of the political process and the spread of serenity and peace among the components of Iraqi society."
In response to a question to Balsakhart Nujaifi confirmed that he expected the government to carry out its tasks and is supportive, but if it lags or fails to implement its program, it will certainly withdraw its support, according to the statement.
He called for ending the file of the displaced and the government and in coordination with the political blocs to close this file.
