OPEC Secretary General Mohamed Barkindo discussed oil market developments with International Energy Agency chief Fatih Birol on Monday after attacks on Saudi oil facilities, an OPEC source said.
The source added that Barkindo and Birol were satisfied with the "containment of the situation by the Saudi authorities" and agreed to continue monitoring the market and maintain regular contact in the coming days.
The source added that an emergency meeting of OPEC and its allies "is not under discussion" now, after attacks on Saudi oil facilities led to the reduction of oil production in the Kingdom by half.
