The Iraqi parliament will hold a special session on Tuesday to discuss the demands of the demonstrators.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that more than 100 people were killed and 6,000 wounded during demonstrations in several parts of the country.
Protests broke out on Friday when security forces fired live ammunition at protesters. Protesters and journalists at the protest site said they saw security forces firing on protesters, some of whom said snipers took part in the protest.
Iraq has witnessed in recent days demanding demonstrations in many areas, especially Baghdad and the cities of the south, which was countered by the authorities using excessive violence has acknowledged this, as well as blocking the Internet, and a curfew in a number of cities.
The protests revolve around deteriorating economic and living conditions, inadequate state services and scarcity of jobs. A series of government decisions have fueled popular anger, particularly the demotion of the chief of the counterterrorism apparatus, Abdelwahab Saadi, who is widely popular in times of war, for reasons that have not been adequately explained. During the demonstrations, some protested against Saadi.
In an effort to absorb growing public anger, the Iraqi government issued a series of resolutions during an extraordinary session held on Saturday night, including Adel Abdel-Mahdi, including considering the victims of the demonstrations "martyrs" and granting their families "privileges of martyrs", and open the door to volunteer for the army and return those whose contracts were terminated ISIS invasion in 2014.
