The commander of the NATO mission in Iraq, Major General Danny Fortin, said that Turkey is an important contributor to the NATO mission in Iraq.
This came in a statement to Anatolia, NATO headquarters in the Belgian capital Brussels.
Fortin added: “I am grateful for Turkey's contributions to the mission and also to the trainers and consultants at the Military School of Administration and Logistics in Taji district,” referring to a NATO headquarters providing training to Iraqi forces.
He pointed out that the mission of the mission in Iraq is "training and counseling, not combat".
In October, NATO's Iraq mission was set up to strengthen the country's security forces in the fight against ISIS.
The mission, which includes hundreds of trainers, advisers and support staff, is aimed primarily at moving from training foreigners to Iraqi forces to training Iraqis for their citizens.
