, Parliament member Amer Al-Fayez confirmed on Saturday that the reassignment of Adel Abdul Mahdi to head the government had been proposed, but it did not win consensus.
Al-Fayez said, in a press statement that was followed by / Mawazine News, that "several joints cause the delay in reaching an agreement on the nominations for the post of prime minister," noting that "the reassignment of Abdul-Mahdi again, has been put forward, but it did not obtain consensus."
He added, "The constitutional 45-day deadline is a deadline to choose an alternative for the prime minister and the formation of a new government, but it does not mean the position is vacant," adding that "Article 81 of the constitution spoke of vacancy, but the position is now empty and the prime minister exercises his duties and the ministry continues."
