    [size=18]On Friday, Washington called on American citizens not to approach the US embassy in Baghdad, while noting that its general consulate in Erbil is open for visas and the completion of other services.


    And the website of the US embassy in Baghdad, through social networking sites, published a message to American citizens residing in Iraq, that central Baghdad is witnessing today Friday, demonstrations and a heavy security presence, and roads may be closed, indicating that "the general consular operations in Baghdad are still pending."







    In its message, the embassy called, "American citizens not to approach the US embassy in Baghdad," noting that "the US Consulate General in Erbil is open to visas and deadlines for the services of the American citizen, including the issuance of a passport."

    The embassy also published in its letter "toll-free" phone numbers, inviting US citizens to contact them.


    On Friday morning, a large demonstration was launched in the Al-Jadiriya area in the center of the capital, Baghdad, to reject the American presence on Iraqi soil.

    Today, Friday, the US embassy in Baghdad issued a statement regarding the millionth demonstration called by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, while calling on its citizens to avoid the areas of demonstrations.
    The embassy said in a statement, "American citizens may witness an intense security presence, and it is possible that roads will be closed, and the general consulate operations in Baghdad are still pending."
    The embassy called on American citizens to "not approach the American embassy," noting that "the US Consulate General in Erbil is open for visas and service times for the American citizen, including the issuance of a passport."
    The statement added that "the measures that must be taken according to the travel advisory in May 2019, do not travel to Iraq, avoid the areas of demonstrations, monitor the local media for updates."
