Resigned MP [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/9685/%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%AF %D9%81%D9%87%D9%85%D9%8A]Raed Fahmy[/url] stressed that the ruling parties are delaying the issue of choosing a new [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/10899/%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3 %D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1]prime minister[/url] , for fear of losing their influence in power.
Fahmy said in a press statement: "The choice [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/10899/%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3 %D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1]of a[/url] new [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/10899/%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3 %D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%A1]prime minister[/url] means implementing the steps for a transitional government, followed by early elections and accountability for those involved in crimes against the people."
He explained: "This matter raises the fears of the political parties about losing their influence in power," noting that "the current rulers fear that this process will threaten their positions, and they are betting on the pressure of the protesters and their momentum being diminished in order to stay in power."
"Until now, neither the government nor the [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/1047/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AD%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%A8 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A9]political parties have the[/url] strength to impose a new prime minister, so this crisis will continue," he added.
