Member of Parliamentary Law Committee Hussein Al-Oqabi warned, on Monday, against the inclusion of embezzlement and theft of state funds and the waste of public money under the special amnesty law as a green light for the rest of the corrupt to continue their corruption and expansion.
Al-Aqabi said in a statement, which received (information), a copy of it, that “it included the recommendation of the Prime Minister resigned to the President of the Republic regarding issuing a special amnesty for the convicts to include the crimes of embezzlement, theft of state funds and deliberately wasting public money in the event that the convicted person paid his money before his release Considering that this paragraph is a clear and grave violation of the Iraqi constitution, in which Article 73 / First of it stipulates the following: (The President of the Republic assumes the following powers: First: Issuing a special pardon upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister except for what is related to the special right and those convicted of committing international crimes Terrorism and corruption For Mali and Admin) ”.
He added that "the inclusion of those convicted of crimes of financial and administrative corruption with a private amnesty - after paying the money they looted - represents a glimmer of hope and a lifeline aimed at them, and a green light for the rest of the corrupt to continue their corruption and expansion as long as the procedures with them are so easy and easy", blaming the resigned Prime Minister "legal responsibility" Moral responsibility for any accused of corruption and embezzlement is covered by a special amnesty, contrary to the Constitution and the laws in force, and we call on public opinion to be vigilant and wary of these attempts.
