The head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, has announced complaints to the International Criminal Court (ICC) about popular protests.
Allawi said, in a tweet via "Twitter" that "the kidnapping of Sheikh Ali al-Lami in Baghdad and the attempt to assassinate the activist Azhar al-Shammari in Nasiriyah, reveals hidden intentions to continue to suppress demonstrations and intimidate the demonstrators, by authoritarian groups with the complicity of the security services."
He added, "Our complaints have reached the International Criminal Court, and we will continue to stand with our people until the legitimate demands are met."
