A member of the Parliamentary Oil, Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Sadiq Al-Sulaiti, revealed that there is a plan to invest in the field of oil derivatives in the country.
In a statement, Al-Sulaiti explained that the Ministry of Oil has a plan to move towards investment in the sectors of refineries and oil derivatives, to deal with what he described as the heavy legacy resulting from the neglect of the oil sector, indicating that Iraq spent about thirty billion dollars over a period of fifteen years to import oil derivatives that go for domestic consumption. These sums were to be invested to develop the refineries sector and build new ones.
