    Baghdad - People  
    Deputy Kazem Finjan Al-Hamami announced, on Sunday, the hijacking of an Iraqi ship by pirates.

    Al-Hamami confirmed in a statement that "People" received a copy of it (March 21, 2021), that he “received authenticated pleas from the owner of the Iraqi tugboat (T-4) belonging to the private sector, and the owner demanded in his appeals to free his ship from the grip of the pirates, who seized it and took it. To an unknown location, and in an audio recording they demanded that he pay a ransom of eighty thousand dollars. "  
    According to the statement, the owner of the hijacked ship stated that "his ship ran aground along the Iranian coast about seven miles north of Bushehr Port. The crew of the ship (Sohan) stole its fuel and plundered its contents, equipment and equipment."  
    Al-Hamami pledged to send an "urgent appeal for help from the MEMAC Mutual Aid Center (based in Bahrain), and to address the Iraqi authorities concerned with bilateral relations with neighboring countries."
