    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

The local federation of agricultural societies in Diyala announced, on Saturday, the lowest levels of imported agricultural crops to the governorate's markets in 18 years.

The head of the local federation in Diyala, Raad Maghamis Al-Tamimi, said, “The strict measures taken by the competent security authorities to prevent the entry of agricultural crops prohibited from import according to the calendar of the Ministry of Agriculture via the roads coming from Kurdistan have given great positive results in recent weeks in terms of relying heavily on local agriculture to secure Market needs. ”

He added, "Smuggling has decreased by 70% to Diyala markets, meaning that what is present from the importer is not more than 30%, which is the lowest rate in 18 years, pointing out that the ban on smuggling, in its largest part, gave a clear recovery to local agriculture and kept thousands of farmers away from the specter of repeated material losses as in Previous seasons ”.

He pointed out that "preventing the entry of the importer and tightening the procedures will push to revive the agricultural sector in Diyala within a few months and provide great opportunities for the unemployed."

The security services in Diyala imposed strict measures to prevent the entry of materials and crops prohibited from importing via land routes coming from the Kurdistan region in the past weeks.
