, Advisor to the President of the Republic, Ismail Al-Hadidi, confirmed, on Sunday, that the cancellation of the provincial councils depends on what will be decided by the Federal Court, while indicating that the presidency will not contradict any decision issued by the court.
According to the official agency, Al-Hadidi said, "The cancellation decision came by the House of Representatives as part of a project, which was basically to begin with dissolving councils and then dissolving parliament, but the latter was satisfied with the first."
He added, "The Federal Court will be formed soon, and the Presidency of the Republic will not oppose any court decision as it is binding."
Earlier, the Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that the provincial councils have not been suspended and their abolition requires a constitutional amendment.
