    {Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs agreed with the World Bank and (UNICEF) to resume the conditional aid project in Baghdad.

    The pilot program for conditional cash benefits was launched during the year 2018 in the second Sadr area under the name “Aid in addition to a better future”, in cooperation with the ministries of (Health, Education and Planning), the World Childhood Organization (UNICEF) and the World Bank, and it came within Article (8 / second) of the Protection Law Social No. 11 of 2014 as a trial for two years.
    The director of relations and media at the ministry, Najm Al-Oqabi, said in a press interview, "It was agreed with the World Bank and UNICEF to develop an updated work plan to resume the conditional cash aid project and work on expanding it to include new families and segments." 
    He added, "The project has stopped during the past period due to the circumstances of the Corona pandemic, and it is hoped that it will resume in Sadr City in Baghdad on an experimental basis after discussing the impact of the epidemic on the economic situation."
    The project includes a modern electronic program to follow up on the regularity of contracted children in the study by granting them certain wages, as well as regularity in the follow-up program for pregnant women and periodic vaccinations in order to form an integrated picture of the extent of their cooperation in implementing the program that originally aims to combat illiteracy and return children who have dropped out of school at the age of ( 9-14), that is, from the fourth primary stage to the third intermediate stage, as well as immunizing poor families against diseases.
