Today, Tuesday, the Federal Integrity Commission revealed cases of waste of public money in a contract to operate and rehabilitate one of the berths of the southern port of Umm Qasr, affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.
And while talking about the details of the seizure process, according to a statement received by the “National News Center,” the commission’s investigation department stated that “the work team of the commission’s investigation office in Maysan, who moved to the sugar factory in the governorate, seized the priorities, correspondences and appendices of the contract. Operation and rehabilitation of berth No. (11) in the southern port of Umm Qasr of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals - General Company for Food Products - Maysan Sugar Factory.
The department added, "According to the contract concluded between the General Company for Food Products and one of the civil public transport companies, the civil company was granted a suspension period from (20/2/2020) until the end of the Corona pandemic, although the contracted company submitted a request to calculate the stopping period from (15/3/2020 - until 1/6/2020), in addition to resuming work on the berth and anchoring (6) ships starting from the date (24/2/2020).”
She explained that “the General Company for Food Products did not ask the private company to pay the financial dues it owed, and did not meet the wages for occupying the sidewalk for the mentioned period; Which caused a waste of public money.”
The department confirmed that “a fundamentalist seizure report was organized in the operation, which was carried out based on a judicial note, and presented to the competent investigative judge. to take appropriate legal measures.
