{Local: Al Furat News} The Foundation for Political Prisoners revealed that the salaries of Rafha detainees have not been paid retroactively so far, after the government's decision to stop it was canceled.
The head of the institution, Hussein Al-Sultani, said, "Many of the provisions of the Prisoners Institution Law have not been implemented in practice, and the institution is following all of this, but it has not received support from the relevant institutions."
He added, “The institution has been abolished during the past years and is still there; Dozens of decisions in which their owners were unlawfully included in the institution’s law, and some rights were restored and others are under implementation.”
Regarding the reality of what is being raised about the salaries of the Rafha detainees, whether they should be suspended or continued, Al-Sultani explained that “a year ago, the government took Decision No. (27) in which it suspended the rights of nearly 20,000 detainees covered by the Foundation’s law from Rafha detainees and gave the rest a limited salary that does not exceed one million dinars for each included individual. He added that, "after eight months, the government took a decision to cancel its aforementioned decision and released their salaries."
And he indicated that "the beneficiaries of the salaries of the Rafha detainees are the participants in the popular uprising, their families and their children who left with them and those who were born in detention, but other than what was mentioned, it is not included." Applicable for the large and numerous salaries of members of the apparatus of the former regime.”
He added, "The media has the right to raise questions about any topic, but it never has the right to shed light on the victims only and ignore the executioners completely, and ignore the many other inaccurate legislation, and we, as an institution, call for a review of all legislation and procedures that the state is experiencing with all joints, and that the treatments be general and comprehensive, not selective.”
