Central Bank Governor stresses redoubling efforts to develop banking

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Scary, on Sunday reiterated the redoubling of efforts in its branches to contribute to the development of the work of banks and financial institutions.
The bank's information office said in a statement to Shafaq News that the bank's governor conducted an inspection tour of the central bank's branches in Mosul and Erbil, and was briefed on the progress of their work and the level of services provided to the banking sector.
He stressed the redoubling of efforts in the two branches, which reflect the role of the central bank and its branches in promoting the banking sector and overcoming any difficulties that may disrupt the contribution of banks and non-banking financial institutions to the desired development process.
Central Bank Governor Mustafa Ghaleb Scary arrived in Kurdistan on Saturday and met with regional prime minister Masrour Barzani.
A statement issued by the territorial government and received by Shafaq News said that at the meeting, ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the Kurdistan region and the federal government were discussed in the area of reorganizing the banking sector and combating terrorist financing and money laundering.
The Governor of the Central Bank stressed that the Central Bank deals with its branch in the Kurdistan region, based in Erbil, as the official body involved in overseeing banking affairs in the region.
The Prime Minister reiterated his readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the Central Bank of Iraq, and stressed that the reorganization of the banking system would be a strong and important pillar for the development of economic infrastructure, the consolidation of the investment process and the gain of the confidence of banks and international financial institutions.
