{Political: Al-Furat News} The Kurdistan Regional Government responded to the news of the launch of US planes that bombed the Popular Mobilization sites recently on the Iraqi-Syrian border from Erbil International Airport.
"The so-called Ahmed al-Maksusi, one of the officials of the Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, stated that the American planes that targeted the crowd took off from Erbil International Airport," said Jutiar Adel, the spokesman for the regional government, in a statement received by {Euphrates News} a copy of it.
He added, "While we reject these allegations in detail, we consider them baseless, while the truth is the opposite of what he has fabricated, and that the attacks that targeted Erbil were carried out by outlaw militias, and what this person claimed has very bad indications."
Adel said, "Al-Maksusi's allegations prove, with conclusive evidence, that any possible attacks that could affect Erbil are the actions of the parties to which Al-Maksousi belongs and those like him, and that what he has fabricated is nothing but a pretext they made in advance to attack Erbil."
The Popular Mobilization Authority announced that at two o'clock in the morning last Monday, the American aircraft targeted three stationed points of the Popular Mobilization Forces (the 14th and 46th Brigades) at a distance of 13 km inside the Iraqi borders in the Qaim district, west of Anbar Governorate.
And she said in a statement, "This attack resulted in 4 martyrs, who were performing their usual duty to prevent the infiltration of ISIS terrorist elements from Syria into Iraq as part of the official duty of the Popular Mobilization Forces under the Joint Operations Command and they were not involved in any activity against the foreign presence in Iraq, which the Popular Mobilization Authority had previously clarified her position over and over again.
He stressed that "the PMF points that were bombed do not include any warehouses or the like, contrary to the American allegations that I listed in order to justify the crime of targeting PMF fighters."
The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, condemned in a statement "the US air attack that targeted a site on the Iraqi-Syrian border, which represents a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty and Iraqi national security in accordance with all international conventions."
He added, "Iraq renews its refusal to be an arena for settling accounts and adheres to its right to sovereignty over its lands and to prevent its use as an arena for reactions and attacks," calling for "calm down and avoiding escalation in all its forms, stressing that Iraq will carry out the necessary investigations, procedures and communications at various levels to prevent such violations."
