The Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced, on Tuesday, coordination with international organizations to address the situation in Al-Hol camp, while referring to the move to end the file of the camps in the Kurdistan region.
The Director General of the Branches in the Ministry of Immigration Ali Abbas said, "Al-Hol camp is one of the camps that falls under the authority of the Autonomous Administration in the eastern region of Syria and is outside the control of the Syrian government, and we, as the Iraqi government represented by the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, do not have any authority over this camp, but there is In coordination with international organizations to address the situation in the camp, the last of which was the transfer of 94 families to Iraqi territory some time ago.”
He added that "the Iraqi government and the Syrian government are not aware of the talk about the existence of marriage on social media or escape operations in the camp."
Regarding addressing the challenges facing ending the file of the displaced, especially those related to the common borders with the Kurdistan region, Abbas affirmed that “the National Security Adviser represented by Qassem al-Araji was tasked with following up the common borders with the Kurdistan region, especially with the Ministry of Interior of the region, as it is responsible for this file,” noting that “a meeting A meeting was held in the National Security Adviser that included representatives from the region, and we were present and we discussed the issue of the camps and the reasons why they did not return to their areas.
He added that "most of the camps in Kurdistan are Yezidis from Sinjar," explaining that "the situation in Sinjar in terms of services is below the level of ambition, so their return is not possible to implement."
Abbas stated that "there are technical points of view that can be discussed and can be resolved," noting that "we are waiting for the results of the meeting and when these matters are resolved, the ministry will deal with this issue for the families to return to their areas."
