    September 29, 2021

The Ministry of Justice announced that it intends to conclude agreements with three countries to recover the looted funds estimated at 350 billion dollars.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Laibi, said in a statement, "The conference to recover the looted funds is the first step in the way to recover these funds," noting that "the conference resulted in a tendency to conclude bilateral agreements with some countries, which have funds inside Iraq, in exchange for funds demanded by them." Iraqi government".
He added, "Iraq is drafting agreements with three countries, Jordan, Egypt and Switzerland, that include returning money and lands seized by the former regime, in exchange for recovering frozen Iraqi funds in the name of intelligence figures in these countries."
The spokesman explained, "The move towards recovering these funds comes through the lawsuit offices in the Ministry of Justice and the Fund for Recovering the Funds in the Integrity Commission, amid the desire of regional and international parties to activate these agreements."
And Laibi indicated that the amount of "looted funds may reach 350 billion dollars," ruling out the existence of "accurate statistics on the size of the looted funds."
