{Political: Al Furat News} Iraq is preparing to host the first conference of regional neighbors at the end of August, with the aim of discussing the political and security challenges facing the countries of the region.
And envoys from Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi began to send invitations to the countries of the region to attend the aforementioned conference, where the Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal, delivered a written message from Al-Kazemi to the Emir of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
It is expected that in the coming days, other envoys from Al-Kazemi will travel to all Iraq's neighboring countries, as well as to the regional neighborhood and a number of European countries.
According to an official source, he said in a press interview, "The aforementioned conference is scheduled to be held within the last ten days of this month at the summit level and is not limited to the countries neighboring Iraq, whether Arab or Islamic, but extends invitations to other countries in Iraq's regional neighborhood." .
He indicated that "one of the most important topics that the conference will discuss is the political and security challenges facing the countries of the region, whether in the context of their bilateral relations or in terms of overall regional transformations and current and future influences."
The official source, who preferred not to be named, added that "the other aspect that it is hoped the conference will discuss is the economy and investment in light of complementary relations with these countries and Iraq's link to that."
He pointed out that "the holding of this conference in Baghdad, which is the first of its kind after 2003 at this level, aims to restore Iraq's influential regional role, which declined due to the policies of the former regime, especially its invasion of Kuwait in 1990."
This conference will be the first of its kind at this level after the Arab Summit hosted by Iraq in 2012 and the tripartite summit between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan hosted by Iraq at the end of last June, which was called the “New Orient” summit, which is the term Al-Kazemi gave.
