The Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Antiquities revealed, on Saturday, the formation of a committee in the Prime Ministry to decide on the law of official holidays and refer it to the House of Representatives.
The head of the committee, Samia al-Ghellab, told the official news agency, "The Official Holidays Law was a unified project with the National Day Law, but it was separated so that each law is unique in its own right," noting that "the Council of Ministers voted on the National Day to be on October 3. Which coincides with the independence of Iraq within the League of the United Nations.
She added, "The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan objected to this day, as it coincides with the anniversary of the death of President Jalal Talabani," explaining that "the National Day law was read first and second reading, and only the vote remains despite the objection of one of the blocs."
Al-Ghallab pointed out that "many problems have objected to the law of public holidays, and there is a committee formed in the prime minister's office to decide on the issue of its approval, and then it is sent to the House of Representatives to vote on it." Ended 29/R77
